Paul Rand (1914 – 1996) was an American art director and graphic designer. He’s best known for his corporate logos, including the logos for IBM, UPS, and ABC to name a few. He’s always one of the first American Commercial Artists to practice the Swiss Style of graphic design. The Swiss Style was developed in the 1950’s with a focus on cleanliness, readability and objectivity. The style is characteristically laid out asymmetrically with sans-serif typeface.
