We here at the Village Copier are avid readers. We like not spending money even more. As water cooler talk seemed to always come back to the books we were reading at the time, we began to share the great(and maybe not so great) books we’ve all been reading. Tune in every other week to our book club and see what we’ve been reading!

The Wallcreeper: A stream of consciousness tale by Nell Zink; follows the story of a Philadelphia women who marries a pharmaceutical research in the hopes that she’ll never have to work again. The couple moves to Europe where she finds out her husband is less ideal as she thought as he’d be. The story details the ups and downs of open relationships, affairs, birding, and eco-terrorism.

A very confusing book! The book illustrates a very open relationship between a couple. Too open for me! I really didn’t get that feeling of a book I need to keep reading. It would forget it at home and would pick it up and put is down all the time.

A very weird book. Zink would say a lot of important things in one sentence, and you could miss it if your weren’t paying attention. However, the writing style was really cool once you got used to it. In the end, I really enjoyed the book. The ending is very strange.

I really enjoyed the book. A very strange read with a very interesting writing style. The stream of consciousness was hard to follow a lot of the time, but I felt the book made some interesting comments on relationships and a woman’s role in a marriage. It also felt like a lot of the time, the book was a metaphor for suffering Depression. The ending is very abrupt and unexpected.

BOBBY

It’s a really good book! I like that you don’t really ever know if what she’s telling you has actually happened.  An awesome example of an unreliable narrator. I really enjoyed how she would tell the reader something really important so apathetically.
