Solomon “Sol” LeWitt (1928–2007) was an American artist considered to be the founder of Conceptual art and Minimalism. Famous for his wall drawings and structures, he came to fame in the 1960s and has been the subject of hundreds of shows since then. He transformed the thinking behind the practice of drawing and the relationship between the idea and the art is created from that idea. His art is not about the physical work itself but the idea that goes beyond the piece.
