Rivers Cuomo (1970–) is an American musician and songwriter, best know as the lead singer of the band Weezer. With Weezer Cuomo has written, preformed, and recorded eleven albums. Named Rivers because we was born in Manhattan between the East and Hudson rivers, Cuomo was raised on an Ashrum in Connecticut until he moved to Los Angeles at 18.
In Los Angeles, Cuomo participated in several music projects before founding Weezer in February in 1992 with Patrick Wilson, Matt Sharp, and Jason Cropper. The band got its name from Rivers’ childhood nickname given to him by his father. Their first album—The Blue Album—was released in 1994 after which Cuomo attended Harvard for musical composition. The band has released albums consistently since The Blue Album, with their latest album release earlier this year.
