Our relationship with bowl restaurants strains the limits of hypocrisy. Sure, members of the VC staff routinely indulge in all of the zillion mini-trough spots around Union Square. But the innovation wore off a very, very long time ago and we are ALL IN on #SmashtheBowlarchy.
Rising from the convex noise to take on the establishment, Make Sandwich is draining the swamp with some inspired takes on classic combos and playful new ones. We’ve worked our way through the menu with embarrassing speed. The bread elevates all these treats to a full on treat. Half of our production team has subsisted solely on a lunch of the chicken chorizo sandwich for weeks now. Pork belly can be notoriously difficult to do well, but the Pork and Pickles surely has Num Pang quaking in their boots.
Try them all.
Every.
Single.
Sandwich.
Then make your own.
The ever-present lunchtime crowds may stifle your view of the interior, but it charms nonetheless. Kudos to whichever print shop provided those pristine, eye catching “Pick Up” and “Order Here,” signs over the counter.
The staff blends admirable efficiency with day-brightening kindness. It’s pleasantly jarring. We’re no stranger to lines of disgruntled customers, these folks handle it like old pros.
Sometimes people get it right the first time. This is one of those rare occasions. Can’t wait to see what they have in store. A reuben perhaps? Who the hell knows! Sandwiches don’t win anymore folks! Lunch is a disaster! Visit our favorite lunch spot and Make Sandwiches Great Again.
